A Finished Round Pencil Pouch

I love making handmade gifts for those special to me. So when I realized it was going to be my dear friend Melissa’s birthday, I ran to my fabric stash and picked out a big pile of some of my most treasured, pretty fabrics.RPP_FabricPull_BP Our love of sweet, feminine florals runs deep and she, like me, loves fabric, sewing and handmade goodness. I decided to make her a round pencil pouch, designed by my friend Kristyne of Pretty by Hand.RndPouch_Full_BP This pouch is the perfect little gift – not only is it beautiful, but you can fill it with all sorts of small goodies like candy, pens, or sewing notions. There are three variations to the pattern, but I chose patchwork as I usually do. It’s a great way to show off a lot of different fabrics, plus I love a scrappy look.RndPouch_Full_crop_BPI quilted it with a classic diagonal stitch and adorned the top with the prettiest lace trim.RndPouch_Top_BPI also added a sweet little thimble zipper charm for a finishing detail.RndPouch_Detail_BPThis is the second round patchwork pencil pouch I have made and I love how much character they have. I’m positive this will not be the last one I make. Have you made one of these before or do you plan to?

  1. Hi Stacy, what a beautiful & thoughtful gift. I’m sure your friend will always treasure it. I recently discovered you on instagram and then your blog (old & new), after seeing your absolutely gorgeous quilt you made for the Paperie blog tour. Your work is amazing! I look forward to seeing more and hearing more about your process and ideas here on your new blog. While instagram is nice for quilty eye candy and inspiration, I miss reading good quality quilting/sewing blogs. I’m so excited to have discovered yours! Will you be sharing your progress on the April Showers Layer Cake quilt here soon (that you showed the beginnings of on your old blog)? I’m curious to see what those lovely piles of cut squares turned into!! Cheers, Kelly

    1. Kelly – Thank you for leaving a comment! I’m so happy that you’ve been able to follow me for so long – through old and new. Oh my goodness, so funny that you bring up the April Showers quilt! I’ve had that pattern written and ready to share for about two years but have neglected to do anything more with it until I had my new site up (and let’s face it, my act together better). I’m actually going to work on a new version since April Showers is “old” now and then I’m going to have it available. I’ll definitely share the AS version though too! Hopefully all of that will happen sooner than later! Thank you, thank you for stopping by and I do hope you’ll come back often and keep me on my toes ;-).

    1. Judy, I wish I could provide you with a cut and dry fabric line but these are scraps pulled from my stash that I’ve collected over the years.
